| Goals |
To provide the participant with an overview of
the current clinical and therapeutic options of Low Molecular Weight
Heparin’s (LMWH) in the clinical setting and discuss appropriate risk
stratification for usage in thromboembolism and acute coronary syndromes.

| Objectives |
- Understand the basic mechanisms of the thrombotic process and
thrombogenesis.
- Discuss the clinically pertinent differences between heparin and LMWH, and the differences among the LMWH class.

Briefly discuss the different prophylaxis
strategies in patients at risk for venous thromboembolic disease.
-
Discuss current treatment strategies for the
treatment of venous thromboembolism.
-
Discuss the use of antithrombotic therapy in
patients with acute coronary syndromes.
-
Discuss the current uses and role of LMWH’s in
interventional procedures, such as coronary stent deployment.
