| Goals & Objectives |
Upon successful completion of the live EC training program, the pharmacist
should be able to:
- Understand and explain the various methods of
contraception.
- Understand the physiology and pharmacology by which
emergency contraception (EC) is effective.
- Understand the California laws and regulations that
allow pharmacists to provide EC under a collaborative drug therapy
agreement.
- Screen patients to determine the appropriateness of
EC.
- Provide referral, if necessary, for family
planning, sexual abuse or psychological counseling.
- Demonstrate screening and counseling skills for
providing EC services to patients.
- Document screening and EC services provided to
patients.
- Collaborate with other health care professionals to
create a collaborative drug therapy agreement for EC.

An AES certificate for
4.0 hour of accredited
continuing education will be awarded the evening of the program
for California pharmacists completing the program.
