Goals & Objectives

Upon completion of the program the participant should be able to:

  1. Review the clinical pharmacology of IV and oral proton pump Inhibitors (PPI's).
  2. Review the epidemiology and etiology of upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB).
  3. Consider the management options for UGIB.
  4. Evaluate the role of antisecretory therapy in the treatment of patients with UGIB.
  5. Comprehend the current clinical data supporting the indications for IV PPI in the hospitalized patient and review techniques that facilitate usage consistent with the current medical literature.
