San Diego Pharmacy Emergency Response Team (RxERT) presents...
"Pharmacy Point of Distribution (POD) Training"

In the event of a bioterrorist attack or natural pandemic in our backyard, pharmacy professionals will be called upon to help set up and operate pharmaceutical point of distribution sites.  This is a very unique opportunity for you to get hands-on experience and receive special training on this critical element that helps to ensure public safety.

About the RxERT - In the unfortunate event of a chemical or biological terrorist attack in San Diego County your skills as a pharmacy professional will be called upon.  You must be prepared to respond efficiently and effectively and must know the county plan of response and exactly your role within it.

Goals & Objectives The purpose of this training is to introduce the pharmacy professional to the:
  1. Introduce the listener to the Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS) & National Incident Management System (NIMS)
  2. Provide an overview of the reception and distribution of the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS)
  3. Demonstrate and role-play the distribution to the target population at a Pharmacy Point of Distribution (POD)
  4. Demonstrate setting up, operating, and taking down a pharmacy POD.
  5. Highlight the components of the Medical Reserve Corp, and give participants the opportunity register as a volunteer.

A California Accreditation for Pharmacy Education (CAPE) certificate for 2.5 hour of accredited continuing education will be awarded the morning of the program for California pharmacists completing the program.  For more info on CAPE, click here.
