Goals and Objectives

  • State the two primary purposes of doping control.
  • List five classes of drugs that are commonly used by athletes as ergogenic aids.
  • List four common dietary supplements used by athletes as ergogenic aids.
  • For each of the above supplements, describe the pharmacology and list two potentialadverse effects.
  • State why dietary supplements can be particularly problematic for athletes subject to drug testing.
